What are the most indicated cases?

Partner semen:
  • Those patients who have had an artificial insemination treatment.
  • Women with some loss or injury to their fallopian tubes, in which the natural fertilization process occurs.
  • Women with advanced endometriosis which has consequences in the tubes as well as in their oocyte quality.
  • Limited number of oocytes and poor quality of them.
Donor semen:
  • Patients with low quality of their sperm.
  • Failed fertilization process with the partner's semen.聽聽
  • Poor quality in embryos suspected of a male factor as the main cause.
  • Men who carry a genetic disease which cannot be studied in the embryo.
  • Women who wish to be single mothers.

Step 1:

In the event that your indicated diagnosis is in vitro fertilization, the first step to follow is the stimulation of the ovaries, this technique is performed by supplying the hormone naturally produced by the woman for the generation of a single ovum, but in greater quantity, in order to produce a greater number of oocytes, which will allow us to obtain a greater number of embryos, increasing the possibility of achieving pregnancy.

Step 2:

It is time to puncture the oocytes

In order that the patient does not feel any type of discomfort, this procedure is performed in the operating room under sedation and is only done after verifying that the follicles and the endometrium are at the right time and there is an adequate number of eggs, A last injection of the hormone HCG is administered which allows oocyte maturation to occur in the same way as in a natural ovulation cycle. This procedure lasts approximately 15 minutes. At the end, the patient can rest a little and can go home to wait for our call where we inform them of the result of the extraction and fertilization.

Step 3:

It's time for fertilization

This process occurs once we have the eggs and sperm obtained through a semen sample by the couple or a donor. And it occurs either through conventional InVitro Fertilization or by ICSI technique in which a live sperm is introduced with the help of a pipette into the ovule.

At Celagem we are interested in the well-being of our patients, so we are very aware of how you feel after the puncture.

Step 4:

Embryo culture in the laboratory

The result of fertilization results in embryos, which are observed in our laboratory daily, in this way they will be classified according to morphology and division capacity. It is possible that some embryos become blocked during their development, these are considered non-optimal and will be discarded.

At Celagem we have time-lapse technology which allows us to have a more detailed and absolute monitoring of the development of the embryos.

In this way we determine according to their quality and development which are the best embryos to transfer to the uterus and wait for them to be implanted and pregnancy is achieved. This process is called transfer , which is performed in the operating room without sedation since it does not produce pain and at the end the patient is informed of the date of the pregnancy test.聽

Duration:

In Vitro fertilization treatment is performed in our clinic and its duration is between 9 and 14 days, depending on the protocol used and the response speed of each patient. During it, between 3 and 4 follow-up ultrasounds are performed and certain hormones are measured in the blood to verify that the growth and evolution of the follicles is adequate throughout the process. The success is in complying with the indications of the injection, which must always be applied at the same time every day, until the stipulated date of treatment is met.

What about the remaining embryos?

In order to be able to use good quality embryos not transferred in a later cycle and without the need for a new ovarian stimulation, the vitrification of embryos , which can be used if you want to try again to have a child.
