What is the ROPA method? Shared motherhood
The ROPA method or reception of eggs from the couple, is an assisted reproductive technique that is indicated for couples of women who want to have a shared fatherhood.
What is the ROPA method?
The ROPA method consists of taking the eggs of one of the mothers to be fertilized by in vitro fertilization with the sperm of an anonymous donor, once the embryos are obtained, they will be transferred to the uterus of the couple who will be the mother who will carry the baby during the 9 months of pregnancy.
Unlike other techniques such as artificial insemination, with the ROPA method both women actively participate in the process of achieving pregnancy, since one provides the egg and the other gestates the baby.
Who provides the egg and who becomes pregnant?
Choosing who provides the ovum and who carries the baby is the decision of the couple, however from @Celagem's medical area they always recommend based on the results of the tests performed.
What are the phases of treatment?
- Ovarian stimulation
- Egg retrieval
- In vitro fertilization
- Embryo transfer
- Pregnancy test
In case of having obtained more than one embryo, these can be cryopreserved for future pregnancies of the couple.
